Well, Christmas is over. New Year celebrations are dying down, and it’s the start of 2007. All of my chocolate cake is gone. I’m at least a stone heavier, I have a thumping headache (and I don’t even drink), and already the credit card people are warming up the laser printers to send the bills out….and I think this angel wants to be taken down now.
This is the first post of what I plan to be a daily photoblog. My aims are to post at least one photo each day throughout the year.

However, my year hasn’t exactly gotten off to a flying start . After only getting to bed (sober) at 4am, after taking my wife’s friends home (I perversely enjoy being ‘Des’ – The Designated Driver), I got rudely awoken at 5am by my 2 1/2 year old son being sick everywhere (He could have waited until his mother was awake, I mean honestly….:-D). So after cleaning that up I finally got to bed, only to be woken early in the morning by my wife doing the hoovering, which has given me a thumping tiredness headache. And to top it all off the clock’s just ticked past midnight and I’m late in posting this first shot to my blog. Ah well. First day and I’m already cheating (By knocking back the time on WordPress’ Post Timestamp edit feature).

So, in time honoured tradition. I wish all readers a prosperous, smile filled, Happy 2007. And I look forward to sharing at least another 364 more photos with you throughout this year.

May you all enjoy looking at them, as much as I will enjoy capturing and sharing them.

    Wish we’d had a tree to play with … lol ! Hope you can keep this up for the next 364 m8 ? BTB … is there a name missing under the photo on the page you first arrive at ?

    Hi Rog,

    The name should be above it. I’m still customising this theme to suit at the moment, so it may look a little squiffy at times while I get my head around relearning CSS and PHP etc (Its been a couple of years since I last designed a website).
    Hopefully I can keep it up for the next 364. It’s a very ambitious promise to post a photo a day. I have todays shot in mind, and I’m already thinking about what I might do for tomorrow. I think if I keep ahead of the game, then I can keep pushing myself and taking fresh photos, which is indeed the idea behind the blog. To better and further myself photographically.

    As a side note I plan to take next years christmas card shot this year. I may use the above, but I have until the tree comes down to decide.

    Hi Marcel … no m8 … what I mean is at the foot of your home page there is what appears an unfinished sentence … “This is the first post of” … seems to me something needs to be added ?
    I envy your resolve Marcel … I’m still thinking about using the camera at least once a week … never mind every day … !! So I will be watching with interest … are you linking this to the TP forum ?

    Ahh I see what you mean.
    What you see is simply a preview of the post, and you have to click on “Read more” to read the whole text that I’ve written.

    It’s an unfortunate by-product of me customising this theme I think. I have slimmed it down to only one blog post on the front page, which has made the preview look a little odd. I’ll be changing that shortly so that the whole post (and all the text it contains) is put on the front page, not just a short snippet. :)

    Oops I forgot to say. I won’t be feeding this into the forum automatically. As I’m on the forum every day, I’ll be sharing most of my shots manually. I don’t think it would be fair of me to saturate the forums with all my own photos. It’s just as much everyone elses forum as it is mine :)

    A special image to start the year off with Marcel…I too have enjoyed doing a blog, its helped me sort out afew things in myhead, a bit like writing a list and then forgetting it! Good luck with this, its going to be a goodun!

    It certainly does help give me a fresh look at photography. I’m trying to look at things with a photographic eye more and more, now that the pressure is on to find that one shot each day.

    Natalya, ‘Christmassy’ is very much a word, at least one I use. Thankyou for the well wishes. I’ll be checking your photoblog too with interest, and indeed for inspiration.
