I took this a few weeks ago. I had just gotten my camera out to take a photo of my daughters new haircut and it turned into an impromptu ‘modelling session’.
She really enjoyed it, striking all her poses, and pretending she was a big fashion model. She certainly has the beauty and the looks to be one!

I processed it using method used by Rob from the forums (Arkady), which involved some desaturation, mixing, duotoning etc.
I do have some niggles with this shot itself (the skirting being quite distracting), and the dress missing off her shoulder, but all in all, I think this turned out a nice shot.
Also a way to try my hand at this ‘new’ technique

I had an idea in mind when I shot this, which completely changed when I cam to process it.
After processing the RAW file in Lightroom, I then opened it up in Photoshop CS3, adjusting the contrast and tones with curves layers, then added a slight vignetting. I then desaturated it quite a bit to tone down the yellow jacket and the red box, then added a toned colour layer, then used a layer mask to bring the jacket and the box ‘through’.
Why did I process it like this? I suppose I could try and waffle my way through it by saying it was to draw attention to the muted blue tones in the scene, highlighting the jacket and the box, inviting the viewer to think about the impending fishing trip and feel cold as a result of the overall toning.

Or I could just be honest and say “I have absolutely no idea”

Crossways Tobacconist in Cromer, North Norfolk. This was only one of two frames shot, as it was literally a “spot the scene, quickly fire up the camera” before he moved (which he did, on the third frame).

I just love the juxtaposition, or the irony, or whatever you want to call it.

My step-father has recently inherited a family bible, which dates back to the 1800′s. I popped along recently to see if I could take some creative photos of it. The actual bible weighs a good few kilos, and is a fair size too, about 6 inches thick, encased in a complete hard cover, with protective metal covering the corners.

This is just an extract from one of the pages, using a narrow DOF to highlight the following passage :

Bless the Lord, O my soul, O Lord my God, though art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty :
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain.
